As many more of us want to get fit and healthy, exercise is becoming more popular every year. However, although the benefits of exercise are clear, it can be time consuming and difficult to gain motivation for exercise in order to begin a regime. Through following a few simple tips and guidelines though, you can increase your motivation and willpower and will soon find exercise much easier:
- Sort out your personal reasons for wanting to exercise and get fit. By writing these down and reviewing them every few weeks, you will soon be able to set targets according to them and quickly see a difference in yourself if these targets are achieved. Reading this list can also be a powerful way to get motivated, no matter how big or small the targets on it are.
- To get started, try signing up for a local charity walk or run. This way, you can think of your training as going towards a good cause. Remember to start off slowly, perhaps only doing ten minutes on the first day but increasing this by a further two minutes every day afterwards.
- If you are finding it difficult to be able to get the determination to go to the gym, why not try going with a friend? This way you are able to increase motivation for exercise by the simple fact that you will be letting down a friend if you don’t turn up. Also, exercising with a friend could be a more enjoyable way of spending time as you have the piece of mind that somebody is monitoring your progress and can tell you how well you are doing with your regime.
