NLP for Weight Loss

NLP isn’t a new concept per say, but in terms of forms of therapy it is perhaps the most modern. It was born in the 1960. A joint creation of John Grinder and Richard Bandler. Bandler in his research noticed there was a difference in the way sucessful and unsuccessful people talked to themselves – i.e. the voice in your mind.

For example successful people look forward to a challenge, grow from rejection, become more focused and driven by failure. Unsuccessful people fear rejection, don’t like taking risks, and get depressed about failure. With these differences in mindset there will be massive differences between how two people handle a situation.

He then took the concept further still, realising that you can apply these principles to any problem or area you want to develop in – whether it be confidence, business, social skills, and of course weight loss – and so nlp for weight loss was born.

It again centres around identifying your negative thoughts, habits and associations towards diet, food, and exercise. Identifies the types of thoughts which are holding you back. Perhaps thoughts which keep you eating for comfort, or make you lazy to exercise for example.

Next these behaviors and ways of thinking need to be replaced with the positive beliefs of people who are slim, who eat well, or who love exercise. Once you adopt these beliefs for yourself then your behaviour will change and you will lose weight.

One way you can do this is with positive affirmations. This is basically repeating things like – I love to exercise ,I exercise every day, I enjoy my exercise, I am losing weight because of my exercise. These statements would obviously for someone who has problems with physical exercise. By repeating these statements every day your mind gets used to them, they get stored, and gradually become part of who you are. Eventually your behavior changes and you really do love exercise.

Another similar, and possibly easier way to do this is with subliminal messages. This is our speciality. Subliminal messages are basically just these positive affirmations. Only that you don’t have to say them to yourself, and that you won’t even be aware of them. They are encoded in audio and sent straight to your subconscious mind subliminally. You won’t hear a thing, but in the same way you will make these lasting changes and lose weight.
